Open source is, in a nutshell, multiple communities of developers collaborating and helping each other while working on freely available source code. It could be a perfect place to start your IT journey. However, it can also be quite overwhelming and not always a great experience. During my presentation, I will discuss some rules and ideas that can improve your odds of getting into open source and help you feel more comfortable.

It's a common story, programming in Logo/Basic as a child, through Pascal and C growing up and ending up as a "professional" software developer. But there have been a couple of twists along the way. I ended up doing things (out of my free will!) that I'd never have expected to do when I started. Was it worth it? What might your options be? (btw: I didn't pivot to herding sheeps in Bieszczady, I'm still doing quite a lot of programming).
