Matejko - the great Polish storyteller
The Matejko's siblings used to say that they were: Saxons from Saxony after their mother, Czechs after their father, and Poles after Krakow.
However, young Jan was not the most talented children, he was thin, short, with very poor eyesight, and he did not even feel strong enough to join the January Uprising, 1863, like his brothers. And yet, over time, Jan Matejko began to be called with such modest epithets:
1️⃣ The great narrator of national history
2️⃣ A mythmaker who incites megalomania
3️⃣Charismatic prophet
4️⃣A bold dreamer
5️⃣Romantic demiurge
6️⃣Inter-rex
7️⃣Holding trappings of royal and quasi-religious authority
8️⃣The Prince of Painters
Feel invited l to visit a unique, temporary, anniversary exhibition dedicated to the work of the most recognizable painter in Poland. The exhibition ends on January 7, so there's not much time left. :)
See you at the exhibition,
