Tamara Łempicka - author guided tour in English

When asked about the most famous Polish painter, most Poles will answer: Jan Matejko. When you google: the best Polish painter, a student of Matejko, Stanisław Wyspiański, will pop up. Tamara Łempicka usually does not even appear in the top ten.However, if we compare the prize for which the most expensive works were sold, we get the following results: Wyspiański 5 millions PLN, Matejko 8 millions PLN, Łempicka over 80 millions PLN ... How is it possible?Well, it's hard to be a prophet in your own country. Łempicka is certainly the most recognizable Polish artist in the world. Moreover, whether we like it or not; she beat all the men! The reasons for this are complex and we will talk about it during the tour. Revealing at least one secret of our story about Łempicka, it should be mentioned that one of the reasons for the low recognition of the art deco queen on the Vistula River is very prosaic. On a daily basis, very few of her works can be seen in Poland, because most of them are located in France and the USA. This exibition is a first Łempicka exhibition in Kraków ever! 96 years after her first big succes in Paris!
