Przystanek Woodstock - Woodstock Festival

THE IDEA:
Woodstock Festival Poland is a huge FREE summer music festival & the biggest open-air festival in Europe, held in the beginning of August in Kostrzyn on the Oder, Poland (over 600.000 people in 2012). The Festival is organized by the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation and stands under the motto of "Love, Friendship, and Music".

THE MUSIC:
Every year, Przystanek Woodstock features a few dozen bands from Poland and abroad. The main musical theme is generally rock, but genres represented run almost a full gamut from folk through experimental to Metal. Recent years have also seen reggae, electronic music and even classical music represented. Among the bands that have performed at Woodstock so far there were for instance: Papa Roach, The Prodigy, Guano Apes, Anthrax (US), Enter Shikari, Kaiser Chiefs, Nigel Kennedy, Gentleman, Korpiklaani, Die Toten Hosen, Kiling Joke, The Stranglers, Beatsteaks, Machine Head, The Darkness, Ministry, Asian Dub Foundation, Anti-Flag, The Qemists, Hardcore Superstar, ThePetebox etc.

WHAT ELSE:
Along with the concerts on two stages there are many other events organized during the festival. The Academy Of The Finest Arts is a place where young people meet with well-known politicians, artists, journalists, musicians, actors and religious leaders including Kesang Takla - the Dalai Lama's Northern European representative. The Hare Krishna movement also organizes an Indian food cafeteria, yoga classes, meditation exercises or meetings with their gurus.
